Resources for parents

Your children’s success is important to you, but it can be difficult to know how to best support them. Students face a lot of stress these days and the world is changing quickly. You may be worried about what they are going through but not know how to talk to them or where to go to learn more on your own. We believe that emotional wellness is critical for long-term success, and we are here to help.

Toolkit

This newly added toolkit was developed in collaboration with William James College Center for Multicultural and Global Mental Health (CMGMH) Asian Mental Health Program to support parents in communicating with their children about racism and anti-Asian discrimination. Founded by Josephine Kim, Ph.D., the annual conference provides you an intentional space to explore ways of promoting your child’s success and emotional wellbeing. You may find the webinars and resources helpful.


Facts for Families

Provided by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, this resource provides concise and up-to-date information on issues that affect children, teenagers, and their families, for example, difficulty coping with things, feels sad, can't sleep, gets involved with drugs, or can't get along with family or friends.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

AFSP is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death. The website includes a free crisis hotline and text line for those who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts.


National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

NAMI dedicates to building better lives for Americans affected by mental illness. It provides guidance for families and friends, who play a large role in helping and supporting those who experience mental health conditions.


The Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds

The Clay Center at Massachusetts General Hospital is a free, practical, online educational resource dedicated to promoting and supporting the mental, emotional, and behavioral well-being of children, teens, and young adults.


AAPI LGBTQ Resources

The website includes a list of national resources in supporting the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) LGBTQ community.


PFLAG Family

The PFLAG Chapter Network provides confidential peer support, education, and advocacy to LGBTQ+ people, their parents and families, and allies.
